Debutant Director Darwin Kuriakose did an excellent job with the script from Jinu V Abraham. Script writer is already experienced with few Prithviraj movies delivered 2 awesome threads in two halves of the movie. Visuals from the camera of Gautam Shanker and apt editing from experienced Saiju Sreedharan created a beautiful nostalgic view observed in late 80s and early 90s movies. Tamil music director Santosh Narayanan with Viduthale Song debuted in Malayalam with a quite decent track and score.
Performance of Tovino was awesome throughout the movie with no super heroic introduction or bgm. He was well supported by his investigation teammates - Rahul Rajagopal, Pramod veliyanad, Vineeth Thattil.
First half of the movie deals with the plot revealing around the missing of a teenager. Interesting factor of the movie was the placement of disputes between two wings of a particular religion in Kottayam district into this investigation story. Simplicity of investigation team and helplessness of investigation officer in various stages of the investigation with no super heroic gimmicks was also a quite different and decent approach. Late 80s in first half and early 90s in second half were beautifully portrayed in the movie. First half focussed on tackling the political pressure without much investigation challenges. Second half placed in northern region of Kerala explored how nicely an investigation can be carried out successfully in a situation where there was no chance for finding the culprits. While treatment of climax in first half investigation story was impressive, but repeating the similar treatment in second half investigation story felt like a bit disappointment. My personal expectation was like we should be feeling positive while leaving theatre, but seems like director wants to showcase real life pain of such investigation teams.
It seems like Marketing team of the movie is not much focused on promoting the movie. Most of the viewers felt like watching this movie as they are not getting tickets for Premelu and Bramayugam.
Overall a decent theatre watch movie
